Title: Jukebox software that supports "remote" displays
Post by: shilmover on September 14, 2009, 11:21:46 pm
So here is what I am trying to do.

I am building a jukebox to put in the media room to control the music and pipe it into the stereo.  The house is wired up with speakers in every major room and outside.  I picked up some 10" touch screens and I would like to build "satellite" or remote units that would allow me to control the music on the main juke upstairs from others in the house.

Any ideas on what is out there that will support this?

You can do this with freebox however each touchscreen would need a PC. Not sure how you would do it without a PC attached to each touchscreen anyway, the other option is to VNC the screen however you couldn't use 2 terminals at the same time then.

Thanks!

I was going to have each of them run as their own computer

If you got a computer that has a video card with multiple vga outputs you could buy a few of the wireless vga transmitters and if the touchscreens were USB you could use the wireless usb transmitters as well.  This way you would only have one wire coming out of the monitors which would obviously be for power.  I am not sure if you could have one jukebox program running, showing on all screens if they are all connected one comp though. Maybe opening multiple programs at the same time would work.  You can possibly disregard everything I just said in this thread, because everything that I said might be true, but I just theoretically thought it up when reading you post.
