Title: Fusion Emulator & Fantasy Zone 2 Sound Issue
Post by: yugffuts on September 14, 2009, 04:23:05 pm
Hello,

I recently installed Fusion, and it is working fine for the most part.  However, the sound in Fantasy Zone 2 (Sega Master System) is wrong.  All other games I've tested sound correct.  Could this be a ROM issue?  Or is this a known problem with Fusion? (I didn't find anything through google, so if it is a problem, I would guess it's obscure...)

BTW, this is not a case of my 20 year old memory playing tricks, either.  My brother has his SMS hooked up with the game, so it definitely sounds wrong.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I just used the same ROM in MESS, and the sound is correct, so it's not a ROM issue.  Is there anyone here that can run Fantasy Zone II in both Fusion & MESS and see if the same problem exists?  I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks.

I have to assume that is one SMS game that has FM capabilities?  If you ran the set in MESS with SMSJ, you'd hear the same music as the Japanese Master System had an extra YM2413 chip for enhanced music.

You can change this in Fusion by editing the 'fusion.ini' file and finding the line:
YM2413Disable=0
Change to
YM2413Disable=1

Good call.  Thanks a ton.
