Title: 8-way Joystick Diagonal Problem

I'm having a problem with my cabinet during gameplay. On games that use an 8-way joystick and you can fire while in a diagonal position (such as Contra), the fire button only works when I am in the up/right and down/right diagonals. When I try to fire in up/left and down/left diagonal modes the character will not fire. I was wondering if anyone here knows how I can fix this and be able to fire in all four diagonal positions. Thank you!!!

You'll need to provide more info.

-  OS you're using
-  hardware (ie ipac, keywiz, etc)
-  what are your keys mapped to?

We're here to help, but your description was rather vague.  The more info the better!

My opinion is that's it's not a MAME issue, but again, I need more info.  If you have an ipac, try loading the winipac software and seeing what the buttons display as when you hold up and left and press the button.
