Title: Does my new chassis need a iso transformer?
Post by: Larock on September 11, 2009, 01:59:51 pm
Hello

I just received a new chassis for my cabinet. However im not sure if the chassis needs a isolation transformer or not. I dont have one so im a little scared to turn on the cabinet  ;D. Anybody able to tell if this chassis needs a isolation transformer from looking at these pics?

The safest way to power it up, if you cannot find out if it needs it or not is to use an isolation transformer.    Using an ISO transformer on a chassis that doesn't need it will not damage it.  However, not having an ISO transformer on a chassis that needs it will damage the chassis!

This chassis appears to be one NOT for use in the USA. It does not need an isolation transformer. Notice it says 160v to 240 volts on the label.
