Nirvana Members, Courtney Love Not Happy With Kurt Cobain 'Guitar Hero' Avatar (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,549263,00.html??test=faces)
The whole pretend band thing has gotten old for me. I'll play it when there is a group of people but I'm not planning on buying any newer band games unless they are in the bargain bins, but this is nonsense.
When we do get a group together we play Guitar Hero World Tour, instead of Rock Band1. Rock Band has better songs, but my friends love playing as Ozzy and the other real artists.
I think Courtney love is just doing this to get her name in the press and maybe sue for some cash, and I think the other unknown members of the band are just jealous.
I'm not a fan of Kurt Cobain so if his character becomes locked I won't care, but he does have fans and this is a fun way for them to appreciate/remember him.
BTW: he killed himself, so if his fans don't care about that they won't care if an avatar that looks like him sings a few Britney Spears songs.
What do you Kurt Cobain fans think of this?

I can sorta see their point...I think they don't want his likeness singing songs from bands he didn't respect in real life. Imagine if you, yourself, were a star athlete...let's say a hockey player. Would you want your posthumous likeness being paraded around in your opponent's jersey's? I mean your dead so not like you would know hehe but I can sort of see their point.
Also, they are approaching it from several levels...wife, daughter, estate holder, friends etc...

I think if I were Cobain I'd be a lot more humiliated by the way my wife was whoring out my life's work for every skanky penny she can grab. She doesn't give a crap about his vision. She just didn't get paid enough.

It has nothing to do with the fact that he is dead.
It has to do with the fact that in life he never would have wanted his likeness used in such a way.
Kurt Cobain in a corporate cash in like Guitar Hero 5...
If he killed himself, then there is a perfect irony in that.
If he was murdered, then there is a special lightning bolt somewhere in the heavens with Courtney Love's name written on it.

My feeling is that since he killed himself, he didn't respect his body or his likeness. So they can plaster his face on an avatar, or at the bottom of the hole of an outhouse, and no one has a right to complain.

Jimi Hendrix's avatar only plays his own music. His avatar can't be used anywhere else in the game.
I'm not a fan of Hendrix either so I can't comment one way or another about this.
All I know is I'm a fan of Ozzy's and I enjoy having use of his avatar. I'm disappointed that his avatar can only be a singer, it would be fun to have him playing the drums, which is why I don't understand this Kurt Cobain thing.
I’m thinking it's a fan mentality thing. Ozzy bites off the heads of bats and had his own reality show, so maybe I'm not as concerned about his appearance as an "artist", but I doubt Cobain's fans have the same sense of reverence as Hendrix’s fans.
Hendix proved he was the best and died by accident while living the rock star dream.
Cobain was a musician who was having a miserable life and killed himself before he could prove that his music was more than just a grunge gimmick.

I have a problem with the whole thing
I know that these people are dead, but it seems so wrong to me to sell, and use someone else's likeness without their permission (even if your in charge of their estate)
if there dead you can't get there permission(period), I mean seriously can you see John Lennon giving permission to do the Beatles Rock Band?
It would bother me a little less if he was just playing his own songs in the game
seeing Elvis and Fred Astaire sell vacuums just broke my heart, and I don't even like those guys

That's how it usually works in the Guitar Hero games, anyway. They only do their own stuff. Even in GH: Metallica they have a generic band (plus Lemmy and King Diamond for THEIR music) for the other songs.

I'm not sure I have ever even changed from the default person. It's not like I actually watch the guitar player while the song is going on.

RockBand Wii doesn't have that as an option.
I didn't care about having real players in SNK Baseball either, but that's before I knew any better.

I kind of enjoy Ozzy singing Paramour or other performers not perform their own stuff.

That would explain why I didn't think I had ever done it. :)
We only have one guitar, no other instruments. We don't play Rock Band as much because the game is just too much easier than GH if you're only playing guitar.
