Hi all,
I recently took apart a monitor to put into my vertical cabinet project that I am working on. It's working out perfect so far, but I had a question about two extra wires that I see attached to the monitor bezel.
I'd like to get rid of the bezel and put the monitor into my cabinet without it. However, I noticed that there are 2 wires on it (they plug into the circuit board of the monitor). The first one looks like it's attached to a sticker of some sort (green strip along the bottom in the pic). What does that do? Do I need it? The second one runs all along the top and sides of the monitor. What does that do? Do I need it?
The monitor seems to work fine without them plugged in, so I'm not sure if I need those extra wires or not. The degaussing coil is not on the bezel, it's already located on the monitor itself, so I know that wire that runs along the bezel is for something else.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

What monitor is that?
-
It's a Gateway EV910B (19" monitor).
Again, it seems to be working fine without those two things plugged into the monitor chassis. (all the menu controls work fine and degaussing works fine too). But I was just curious.
More than likely, I'm going to leave them off and continue on my project. But I'd like a few more opinions before I do so.

Check ta see if yer degauss works. Could also be a color temp monitor?

(all the menu controls work fine and degaussing works fine too).
Yah, everything appears to work fine. I'm going to leave it off. The less clutter the better. It looks sexier too, just like a real arcade monitor. 8)

that bezel is likely the shielded variety. meaning a slightly conductive surface .
the wires were for grounding. so, irrelevent if removing.

Thanks for the input. I figured they could safely be removed. I've gone ahead and mounted it in my cabinet without those wires and so far so good.
Thanks!
