Thought I'd introduce myself and start a thread to follow my MAME project. I'm using the plans based off of Knievel's Neon MAME. I'll be thrilled if the finished project is anywhere near as nice as his. I'm using 3/4" MDF and gluing/biscuit joining all joints. Cabinets is probably about 85% structurally complete and shaping up nicely.
Measure twice, cut once...

I rough cut the 2nd panel and used a router to get an exact match....

Welcome and nice cuts so far! :)
Btw...you going to put speaker holes in that top piece?
-
Yes, I'm just not sure what I'm going to use for speakers yet so I'll add the cuts later. It will be a bit tricky to cut out in the cabinet but shouldn't be a showstopper. Work on the CP starts this weekend.

Whats the large cutout for in the front door? Looks too big for a coin door?
-
Maint hatch maybe?
Could always put a coin door on THAT door.
Looks good!
Man, I wish I had somewhere I could get away with stashing a full size upright cab!
-
The fron cutout is going to be a door to allow access to the cabinet and PC etc that will be housed inside.. I'm not planning on installing a full on coin slot, just a credit pushbutton.
-
if you're not going with a coin door and planing on putting a access door on the front..
it might look cool using plexi or lexan so you could see inside..
then highlight it's edges with some cold cathode lights.

And/or put some semi-transparent on the lexan/plexi sticker or etching that matches your format. :applaud:
