Title: How to decide on on ditching projects?
Post by: RayB on September 08, 2009, 12:58:49 am
I'll be moving in the near future and have been trying to decide on whether or not to trim the herd down. When/how do you decide it's time to ditch project machines or parts you feel you might use in the future?

*sigh*

I gave up on the Konami GT cockpit before I even started. It won't fit in the gameroom and it was already in very poor condition when I got it. I'll be measuring it for who knows when in the future and get all the usable parts from it....

I wouldn't dream of letting go any of the other projects right now.....

It's a good question.  I have a couple projects here that have been in the queue for years.

Depends on how much you like the idea of the project as well as if what has been done is really what you wanted to do. I have plenty of projects but I have 3000 sq ft. dedicated to the hobby so I guess that I can't really complain. If your going to ditch anything, let me know and I'll take it probably.

I'm just curious, it's only a hobby for ya?

Well, It is business AND a hobby. I sell stuff when someone wants to buy something, and I keep what I want. I'm kind of a businessman with it because the original plan with all the games was to buy em' cheap, fix em' up/ clean em' up, and resell them. I was more into the last part when I didn't have all the space for them to be all in one place, but now I'm not that pushing of the idea of selling(I still do sell). The thing is that my space is not at my house.

Moving is a great reason/excuse to abandon a project.  keep what works and put anything you haven't touched in over 6 months on Craigslist.

...and don't trick yourself into starting any new project after you've gotten rid of the old ones.
