Title: Question: Betson Imperial 3" Trackball (w/PS2 connector), Opti-wiz?
Post by: RyoriNoTetsujin on September 06, 2009, 08:07:14 pm
I have a Betson Imperial 3" Trackball in my panel that has a PS2 connector, purchased in late 2006 from DreamArcades.  The new PC upgrade that is going into my cab is a Dell mobo which does not have PS2 ports.  Can anyone tell me if this trackball is "usb compatible?"

(For example, the IPAC is ps2/usb compatible; if you have an ipac with a ps2 cable you can use one of these http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=776087&CatId=469 and it will function properly via USB.  This info comes directly from Andy @ Ultimarc in a different thread.)

If the Betson is not USB compatible, how difficult would it be to install an Opti-wiz interface into it?  (I've never cracked open the casing of the trackball to see how it functions.)  I am a solder noob so the "no solder" flavor of the Opti-wiz seems ideal... but what else would I need to get to make the install as easy and painless as possible?

I am actually interested in this answer as well.  My mobo is a dell with no PS/2 connectors.  I got a Betson Imperial 3" Trackball w/PS2 connector and a OptiPac, for a great price, figuring that I could hook it up to that encoder.  The wires coming out are for the buttons not the OptiPac.  Is there a way to hook this up to an encoder or am I out of luck?
