I'm going to try to document the Benderama's travels in this thread ;)
Here is the first view of it in the wild.

the Benderama at the Lake on the way to Arcade Mecca
this thread is just for sightings and related comments
Discussion on the build should be posted on the build thread for this project

Here is another view

Too cool!
-
Very nice! I had heard rumors that Benderama's inhabit the shores of lakes and other bodies of water...this shot confirms it! :)
-
I've heard of sightings in the mountains too
-
Wow man - looks awesome! The cab looks pretty nice too. ;D I can't wait to see some shots of it in action! I was thinking about this cab last night while watching Bender join the Temple of Robotology. "What kind of party is this? There's no booze and only one hooker." Good stuff.
-
Great stuff!
So where do you keep it when you're at home?
"The Bathroom"
"The What Room?"
"The BATH room"
"The Bath What?"
"The BATH ROOM"
"The What What?"
-
Someone should forward this to gizmodo!!! If someone doesn't, I will. . but I'm busy busy busy!
-
the Benderama at the Lake on the way to Arcade Mecca
Is it facing toward Arcade Mecca? Not sure it would be right if it wasn't!
Great Idea Bender! Can't wait to see where else Benderama pops up! :applaud:
-
That thing is way to close to the water.
-

How about wireless electricity (http://www.witricity.com/)! You could be the first ;D
Very nice project

Y'know, I thought about this concept a lot over the last few years, (I wish I was a molecular scientist, I could cash in!) as I consistently noticed that we can have all the dazzling 'wireless' devices in the world, but if we can't power the devices we have sufficiently we can't get them away from a wall socket for very long. If someone could just come up with a new type of battery technology, it would be a start. I've never bothered buying new mobile phones or PDA's with all their fancy features as at the end of the day, battery technology still sucks and you can't use them in many capacities for long enough.
Take a mobile phone for example. Most are now marketed as web-surfing jukeboxes, but although many can stay on standby for about 3 days without charging, if you use anything on it (even just making a call as it's intended for, the batteries going after about an hour. What's the point? What we need is some new kind of low-energy circuitry and high-energy power cell technology so we can take anything everywhere and have it last for days or even weeks without plugging in. That would be sufficient for now.
-
From what I've read, the consensus is that wireless electricity will become commonplace in the next decade. Tesla built a tower for wireless power transmission back around 1900, but he ran out of money before it became functional.

The Benderam in the mountains, still searching for its ancestral arcade origins

Damn Edison and his cronies! >:(
-
WOW! That is awesome! I love how you have a trackball AND a spinner and all the lit buttons! So are there batteries? How is this thing powered? Very nice CPO BTW.
-
It's based on a laptop. I got an extra capacity battery for it
It runs for 2 1/2 to 3 hours (playing games) without having to plug it in
all the lights including the Marquee AND screen are LED so they don't burn a lot of juice
-
I can't get enough of Benderama! Keep the pictures coming.
-
only thing is,..that you place that machine in the most precarious places like on a rock inches from the water,....and on a hilltop ledge..
:o very dumb idea to risk having that game go ..BYE BYE
i fugured you like to give us all the eye candy,..but dont take too many risks just to please us or WOW us,...what will he do next folks???
go parachuting with it,..or bungee-jump?,..were already impressed by the fact that its wireless :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
keep up the good work....YOU RISKTAKER!...lol
-
Trust me that thing is NEVER in danger I spent a year working on it an would never let anything happen to it
But.....
It does travel......
-
I saw an amazing sight out on the reef this morning:
And NASA are remaining tight lipped over an object reportedly retrieved by the current shuttle mission:

:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:
DAMN!
New sightings everywhere!
NASA doesn't want Arzoo's LedBlinky technology to get into the wrong hands!
-
The Empire is also keen to have the LedBlinky plans returned to them..... :-\

I have faith that the Arcade Force will help it escape.....

(many apologies to Bender for hijacking his thread.....)
-
Heard bender was down on his luck and trying to make a buck, with the Senoritas.

dam you guys have great photo shop skills! ;D
-
XeviouS, the Benderama will never be turned to the dark side (or at least not darker than it already is)
Its true ancestry will be revealed later today
no apologies necessary, that's just what this thread is for
Haterot, nice sighting! very similar to an actual one I caught, that I'll post a little later

I got to test a bunch of the controls to see how they compared with the originals, quite fun!
-
I LOVE the Galaga shot! :) (Also, love the detail of the single red button lit up. . .)
I'd be interested to hear about the controller comparisons.
-
Bender,
Love the shot with the "elder cabs"...question though...was this after hours?
It pains me to think this wasn't and all those classics were unmanned...
-
Gary,
Thanks, but all the credit goes to Arzoo and ledblinky, I've got it working very well now and I just love it! just lights up the buttons the game uses and in the color of the button was on the original CP, pretty neat!
Epyx,
This was a weekday so there were a few people there but not many(had to wait for one person to finish to get that shot), by the time we left around 6pm there were plenty of people there, I've been there on a weekend night and there were a lot of people in there
-
Damn Bender! You have a great imagination. That cabinet look freakin great.
This is my new favorite thread, for sure!
-
I'm really liking the way you've done the buttons. Lighting the ones that are used is quite nice, but to light them in the color of the original cab? Very slick indeed. :applaud:
I'm +really+ starting to wish I'd gone a slightly different route with my buttons, but, that just means I've got more experimenting to do.
-
I love Benderama! If there were something vaguely close to it in a product, I'd have a hard time not buying on. :)
Edit: for grasp of the English language. :)

I think that does it. I was thinking about a cross-country road-trip soon, ending up at Fun Spot on the first leg, and was getting leary of all the driving....but I may just hafta do it!
-
Here we go, The Benderama has reached it ancestral home
Oh my goodness, I haven't been this moved since watching The Lion King.
'scuse me for a minute.....I think I've got something in my eye.... :'(
-
What kind of reactions did you get from the Funspot employees and other customers?
The only thing you are missing is a good CRT emulation on there, and I can hopefully help with that in the not-so-distant (post-L4D2) future! :)
-
Gary,
I tried to keep pretty quiet about it,(not make a fuss or disturb anybody) the employees were super nice about letting us take photos in there, which was great.
They were teenagers and not that interested in the cab
Can't wait for that CRT emulation
Xevious2,
I gotta tell ya I got a little choked up when I was in there :'(
Drventure,
again it was all LEDBlinky that really made the cab light up! couple other things that made it possible were cfgmagician and colors.ini (this community is so talented and is so generous, it really is awesome)
Ummon,
oh my, so worth the trip. let me know when your out. I'll let you beat me at Zoo Keeper ;D
Mountain old Buddy, great to hear from you, glad you like the cab!
-
About time we get to see this in it's full form and function. You have make a short video clip of it in transformer mode too. ;) The photoshop skills by the members is amazing.
