Title: MAME Monitor
Post by: leewoo on September 01, 2009, 08:34:23 am
Hello, I have been working on building my first MAME machine for about a month or two.  I have done lots of research and plenty of rom testing  :)   I bought an empty Simpsons Bowling cabinet off of Craigslist and was wondering how I mount a TV inside the cabinet?  It has the slanted board with the small lip towards the back.  I see there are bolt holes where you would mount an arcade monitor that has a bracket around it, but was wondering if anyone could share how they put in their TV?  Does it even need mounted?  Will it just sit in there with that lip?  Thanks

Depends on the thickness and angle of the wood ( the slanted board you are talking about) ...Also weight of the TV you want to put in... Take the TV and sit it on the board...if the angle of the viewing area seems comfortable...then less work for you to do...The lip in the back should prevent the TV /Monitor from falling back...You could also take 2x4s and re-enforce the strength of holding up that TV ...

Does it even need mounted? Depends on if you are going to be moving it alot or keeping it stored in a fun house...or playing tackle football with it...I myself just have my monitor sitting in it...when i do move my cab...it allows me to take it out and it takes off less wieght when i am moving ....

I myself I have a 21 inch CRT PC monitor...(heavy SOB). I built my cab from stratch and that was the method i use...
