Title: ArcadeVGA - Can't install drivers on XP
Post by: Collywobbles on August 31, 2009, 06:50:35 pm
Hi there,

I'm trying to install the ArcadeVGA drivers on my XP box but I just get the error:

"The display driver is not compatible with the display adapter(s) installed on your system"

I'm using AGP version which I believe is a modified ATI Radeon 9200.

I've installed XP using a standard ATI card (ATI Radeon 7200). This device installs okay and I can see the device driver for it. I tried running the cat-uninstaller.exe but that didn't help. I've no idea why the ArcadeVGA drivers won't install. I'm using drivers provided on an Ultimarc CD. I also tried the driver downloaded from the website but got the same error.

Any help appreciated!

Okay - I've fixed this problem.

There seem to be 2 scenarios which cause this error:

1. Your motherboard AGP drivers aren't installed (you'll probably be in VGASAVE mode)
2. You don't have the ArcadeVGA card installed

I encountered both of these in various combinations and got very confused.
