Title: Replacing resistor help
Post by: rfr341 on August 29, 2009, 11:58:25 am
I have to replace a 330 ohm 30 watt ceramic cement wire wound resistor on my mtc 9000 and I can't find a replacement resistor of that size an make, there doesn't seem to be anyone selling ceramic cement wire wound resistors with that high wattage. My question is can I replace the ceramic cement resistor with an aluminum covered wire wound resistor? I have found one that is 330 ohm 50 watt.

As long as the additional impedance created by the wire coil isn't an issue (is the resistor seeing DC or AC?  Frequency?) the higher wattage resistor should work fine.
