Post by: HaRuMaN on August 27, 2009, 03:47:07 pm

Arcade Techmo bowl is nothing like Nintendo. My favorite is 10 Yard Fight. The second Cyberball game is fun too.

Never played it on Mame, but there is always John Elway Football.

Yep but as LL states its not quite like the NES version.  Although, there may be a Nintendo vs. Tecmo Bowl game in Mame.  Not sure though.

Where there is just not one really good football game on that list.  Not one.

I used to play the crap out of that in the arcade. But it really needs a 49 way to play properly. Don't get me wrong, it's not as impossible as Sinistar with an 8 way, but it's 1 speed only.

Not if you're used to playing Madden on PS2/3 and XBox...nothing arcade-wise can hold a candle. If you're looking for realism, don't look at arcade sports games...with the exception of bowling and golf.

<sidenote> While I'm thinking about Silver Strike and Golden Tee, check out Shuffleshot on Mame.

Honestly I enjoy 10 yard fight and NES Tecmo bowl alot more than I enjoy Madden. I noticed that I was more of a slave to Madden than enjoying it. Really any sports game can do that to you.

I never really liked Madden.  Tecmo Super Bowl is where it's at.

I really enjoyed NES Play Action Football back in the day, and any NES game should translate pretty well to a cab.

I never really liked Madden.  Tecmo Super Bowl is where it's at.
And just so everyone knows, there are folks out there who make current roster versions of Tecmo Super Bowl for NES emulator.
So technically, you can play Tecmo Super Bowl '09.

I keep meaning to get those but never do.  I just burned the Big Ass Emulator Disc for the Xbox for the first time and it's decent.  Definitely suffers from the same problem they all do though.  You press the button and it may as well have an hourglass before the screen object responds.  My wife and I were playing head to head tetris last night and could only get half what we could on the actual console in the same game.

I've got a Blitz boardset I'll never do anything with.  Worked the last time I played it.  DIP switches set to standard rez and 8-way joysticks.

Think I paid $65 shipped a few years ago....

pinballjim,

Do you still have the Blitz boardset ?  Is it complete with the hard drive and all cables?

I've always been partial to Cyberball - especially the 4 player/2screen version, but the single screen will do in a pinch.
