Title: Welles Gartner 19k7601 Monitor Purity ring removal?
Post by: iscariot on August 25, 2009, 11:44:41 pm
Can someone elaborate on how to remove the purity rings?  I've got the yoke loose but I can't remove it without removing the rings and so far I can't figure out how to do that.

Should just be a screw type clamp, which doesn't need to come all the way off, just loosened.
Although the plastic tabs may be stuck to the tube due to heat and the kind of tape they put around that area of the neck. I sometime take a small flat bladed screwdriver (jewelers type) and ever so gently pry up on the tabs just enough to break them free a little and maybe a gentle twist. Don't be surprised if a tab or two break plum off, still usuable as long as there are tabs left to clamp back onto the neck.

Where do I pry up?  Pics would help. This is the first time I've done this.

Its those plastic pieces beneath it that are giving me grief.  There seems to be some sort of piece holding them down.

***Nevermind.  Now, what about that metal belt around the thing?

Are you referring to the metal frame mount ?
Are you yanking the entire tube out of the frame ?
Like where the four bolts up front hold it all together ?
