Psssst....hey guys where do I get these replacement connectors?
-
I dunno, sometimes the flippers do not activate after some gameplay.....then it does something worse than reset....its dead, lit up but the DMD, sound, coils & everything but the lights are dead....I check this clip & its super hot.
My other DE machines that operate do not have a hot clip so I figured this was the issue.
Especially since it was brown.
Do you have a different diagnosis?
-
Repin the connectors, I'd replace the male side entirely, but the female housing can probably stay. Certainly can't hurt to replace the whole thing while you're bothering. Gotta warn you that might be a symptom and not the problem, though. That doesn't look like burned enough to have the type of resistance to be the cause.
Check Great Plains Electronics, they usually have those I think.
-
what are you guys thinking the suspect is?
-
If that's the flipper connector then I agree with jim.
-
Thats the "everything except the GI lights" connector...when I pull that plug all goes dead (again other than the lights).
No DMD, CPU board or anything runs when I pull that.

I swapped my WWF power supply board with the TFTC power supply board to see if I could narrow it down to the PSB.
Well so far the only heat on the brown TFTC clip appears to be second hand from the grey square thing near the heat sink...so long story short its not "hot" any more.
So I looked @ the working but unstable PSB (unstable after a few games mind you) from the TFTC & noticed a fuse that looks strange, there are brown spatters inside it. Then I realize its a 8a fuse in a 7a socket. When I look @ the underside of the board I see what looks like a little bit of caramel so maybe that slow blow fuse with a higher rating let too much juice through?
I dunno, maybe its something else with the board? 1a seems a bit trivial but then again its 7a not 8a for a reason no?

Rottendog has a replacement board for $75. Definitely worth the upgrade, as it has additional safety features.

Sheesh, I get one problem fixed & as I am backing away I get a new issue.
Every single switch in the row is dead, not a single missing connection to be found.
Its searching for balls, weak.
I had this happen before but it was a diode & I was able to trip the switches with a screwdriver IIRC.
Any ideas?
this sucks, its all ready to play & tuned up great...my first FULL game was going to be tonight

...not if he isn't even willing to check the coils to see if any are hot. He keeps asking for advice and then ignoring it.
-
Chad I checked the coils bro, chill. Give me some better advice other than "touching" stuff aight?
Dont pout now though, I still need your help.
Anyway the heating issue didnt surface on the newly swapped out PSB so that took care of that....now its time for issues a bit more complex.
I kept getting "searching for 6 balls" for no good reason, I swap out CPU boards & the problem goes away. Only thing is a new issue surfaces. When the playfield is up every switch works independently but when I set it down certain switches trigger a slew (4) of other ones that are not even in the same line.
So when I rest the PF down I get issues, up = none....for the life of me I cannot find a reason for this (meaning I dont see a pile of exposed wires hitting other exposed wires.
I just want to get drunk & play pinball.

Wow, toolbag alert.
The test we gave you was a pretty reliable one for burning coils. It's not always about readings and measurements. There are faster ways to do certain things.

Obviously something is getting kinked, snagged, or pushed down on via gravity when the table is down. Time to get drunk, and start inspecting the pin closely. ;)
