I'm planing my second desktop Arcade control panel and I'd like your opinions (picture attached). I've decided this desing because it mimics the aspect of the Arcade cabinets that I like, and also because it simplifies the woodwork. So, I just have to be able to build a normal box, with no angle at all, which wont be too complicated. The pieces on the sides are cut and attached to the table thus achieving the necessary angle. The panel will be mounting a t-stick and will have a psx pad hack inside. I'll be using an iron base for extra weight, and it will be painted grey and with some airbrush artwork. In relation with the other topic on this forum about the right angle for a desktop control panel, I think it depends on several factors: the height of the box, the height of the desktop, whether you're going to play standing up or siting down, the height of the player... The angle for my panel is 13

Hi,
Design looks good. If you are using crimp connectors, I would suggest lowering the joystick some. It doesn't look like you will have enough room on the top. If you are going to solder direct it should be OK.
I used the same button layout as you on my mock-up panel. I rotated the template a few degrees counter clockwise, and I really like it, much more comfortable for me. You might want to see if it works for you.

I have the same fire button layout on my current CP and don't really like it. I'm going to six buttons, three across in a straight line on my new panel.

You might want to make the sides the same height as the top of the control panel, instead of higher like in your drawings. I find I hold the joystick in from an angle, and like a flat surface to rest my arm. It's a personal opinion, though, so if you like it the way you have it, sounds good!
