I tried out M.A.C.H. 3 in MAME last night...
...it's a DAMN FUN GAME. Now I wish I had a flight stick to use. I forgot how fun the game was.

I have an empty cabinet of that:

It's beat to hell though so I'm going to MAME it. That is a pretty fun game. I looked into restoring it and I could find the disc and some of the board parts, but I couldn't find the full working set. I think that you need a specific laser disc player model to run it because it determines sequences based on certain breakpoints. We had one at my arcade, and if you kicked it hard enough, it would jump ahead. I think the disc would jump.

Wonder why it's beat to hell? :o

That's hilarious. ;D
And that cabinet doesn't look like that bad of shape. Artwork still looks good.

Hey Friz,
I am going to be listing a couple of MACH 3 control panels on eBay for a friend hopefully later this week. If you are interested, I will give you the link when it is up. The CPs are in great shape, perfect to pillage for your MAME cab. Did I say that out loud??? :o

I didn't know they had the laser games working in MAME now! Which ones work? I've been using Daphne to play DL/DL 2/SA, haven't really played any others.
-
did this game use an analog stick or an 8 way?
i ask cause I have it on daphne, which only supports 8 way
-
They are 8-way with leaf switches.

I would be interested in one as well!
The artwork on the cab is missing on the one side, and the artwork on there has huge scratches running down it- can't really see from the pics. The inside is banged up and there's just a lot of cracks all over the place. What should I do? I'm torn!

From what I can remember: Cube Quest, Fire Fox, Us vs. Them, M.A.C.H. 3, Cliff Hanger, and Cobra Command. But the CHDs are huge (over 10 GBs each).
-
The only ones on the list worth looking at (IMHO) are M.A.C.H. 3, Cliff Hanger and possibly Cobra Command. Us vs Them is OK too for the pure cheese that is the "video intermissions". Cube Quest is pretty weak IMHO and Fire Fox just sucks without a SW yoke.

What version of mame did these games become suppported?
Wouldnt Daphne really be the best emulator though for these games? Isnt that what they are all about?
-
downsides to running in MAME is you need a fast processor, fast harddrive and lots of harddrive space.
upsides is you get more accurate emulation and the possibility of high score saves
-
M.A.C.H. 3, US vs Them, Cliff Hanger, Cobra Command and Cube Quest all run like a dream on MAME. I do have a Core2Duo and recently installed a 360GB HD so I should be good to go for a few months at least.
Many of these titles aren't available on Daphne either. Good luck playing M.A.C.H. 3 on Daphne.

I play Mach 3 in daphne with no issues
-
Yeah. And only Cube Quest isn't available in Daphne.
