Last weekend, I bailed on going to the cottage to stay home and work. My older son stayed with me so he could attend a birthday party at a local go kart track. great, so not only do I have to endure the sweltering heat without a lake, but I need to work and then attend a 9 year old birthday party.
Fortunately, the go kart track has a functional arcade -- too many gun games and drivers for my tastes, but at least it wasn't overflowing with redemption crap and it had a quite serviceable Roller Coaster Tycoon (on which I was able to play 8 games on two tokens due to low skill settings and a couple of fortuitous matches).
Pics aren't great (phone), but here they are:

I'd like to play a fully working RCT. Between my time on a real machine with issues, and pinmame, it is one of my favorite Pat Lawlor games. I'd love to have one.
-
That's a pretty good looking arcade, actually.
-
It wasn't bad at all, although lots of the monitors needed tweaks and/or capkits and the fire button on the MsPac/Galaga Reunion stuck. It was definitely better than the local "amusement centres" and reminded me that I need a Cruisin' cab of some flavour.
-
Yeah, anything anywhere with a projection TV monitor is pretty much at end of life now. Don't know that I've seen a good one in a couple of years and it has been all LCD/plasma for a while now.
-
Nice to see, but where were the players? That is troubling.
There is a RCT in our local bowling alley. Last time I played, the top flipper didn't work so everytime you shot a common shot (it's been a while, so I can't remember exactly which shot), it would drain right down the left side. I'd love to play a functional machine..lots of ramps. Maybe I'll take the kids bowling on the next crappy weekend and see if it is fixed.

I like some drivers and gun games, but hate the prices they want for them. The guy I used to work for was asking a buck to play the new Need for Speed game. I know he's got to pay for that machine somehow, and he'd like to make a profit eventually, but I have a problem paying more than .50 for a game. So I haven't played a new driver in the last three years.

I'm the same way. The only game I have put $1 per play into was Let's go Jungle. It was a very fun game to play with the wife, but I wouldn't put in a 'continue' dollar.
75 cents seems to be a deal breaker on Pinball too. Luckily the local cinema only charges 50 cents for their 24 pin.
-
Yeah, you see that $.75 more and more for pinball. It is a big layout of cash and a lot of maintenance, so I get it, just don't like it. I guess that's why you just don't see pinball in the wild much anymore.
I'm glad I have an enthusiast like Chuck @ CP Pinball nearby. Where else can $10 buy for all the silverball you can play on 50 pristine machines for 6 hours?
-
I recently dropped .75c into "Johnny Nero Action Hero (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=13196)" just to try out 2-fisted shooting. It's a gun game... kinda below-average looking for a 2004 game, but if you pay an extra quarter, a single player can use both guns. Kinda fun.
