Title: I did something to Windows and now I get an "Out of Range" display on my monitor
Post by: javeryh on August 18, 2009, 10:36:14 pm
I had Windows set at 640x480 and I accidentally changed something and now the only setting I have is 800x600 (and up) which produces an "out of range" signal on my monitor... any ideas?

Have you rebooted?
Tried safe mode?

XP doesn't think anyone wants 640x480, so they hide it. You have to go to "Advanced" then the adapter tab, then click "list all modes" to see the options to choose 640 x 480.

Thanks saint.  There were a ton of modes there 640x480 32Bit color and 60Hz was the one that worked.  Whew - I was freaking out for a minute...
