Yesterday afternoon I put some side art (purchased from QuarterArcade) on the side of my cabinet and this morning when I woke up 1/2 of the decal had peeled off. I went over it again with the vinyl squeegee applicator thing and it stuck back down but I'm pretty sure when I get home from work tonight it will be lifting up again. Did I get some bad side art? Anyone else have this problem? What can I do to fix it? I was thinking of using some 3M spray adhesive but how would I get it on there nice and neat without overspray on the side of the cab?
It went on really nice and really flat but when I peeled the white paper off of the top the decal was lifting off of the side which I thought was odd - it took twice as long to remove the white paper than it did to line up and apply the decal in the first place. Any ideas???
Thanks!

Have you tried hitting it?

I bet 3M would work. Spray the paper not the side of the cab. Have someone hold the art and you hold the can. Let it tack up for a bit then work from the bottom to apply it to the cab.
You might be able to spray a sponge or a towel and apply it to the paper that way if you are concerned with overspray. The stuff comes out pretty wet and will tack up after a minute or so.

Did you apply it with the dry method or the wet method? If the wet method, all I can say is let it dry out a bit and then try it again. I take it this is for your D.K. . The spray adhesive might work, but If it's a D.K decal and really thin I would think you would see lumps in it. Same with pain old contact cement. If you get desperate enough you could try reactivating the glue with heat. Take a wet rag and an iron set on high and go over the entire thing like that. I don't know though if that would make the colors run on a decal or not. Could very well be an old decal or defective in some way.

Yes, this is for my DK - the vinyl decal is really thin. I put it on dry and used a squeegee to smooth out the bumps and stuff. It seemed like it was on there good until I tried pulling off the white paper covering but when I went to bed last night it looked great. Also, this happened to one decal and not so much to the other (the second one was lifting around the edges a little but not much) which is why I'm thinking it might be defective. Also, I noticed that the side that is peeling is closer to an air conditioning vent (but isn't on top of it or anything - maybe this has something to do with it?). I don't know.
The iron is an interesting idea and so is wiping the adhesive on the decal and cabinet side instead of spraying it directly (I'm not sure what hitting it would do?). Should I snap a pic and email it to QuarterArcade? I'm at a loss here because the decal is peeling around all of the edges (about 3" all the way around) but the middle seems quite secure - I'm not sure I'll be able to remove the entire thing easily to put on a replacement. I'm really disappointed. :-\

Sounds to me like the glue dried out on it long before you got it. I'd contact Quarter Arcade and see if they could send you another one.

Man, what a bummer if this is the case. I don't want to spend an entire afternoon removing the side art that I just put on but I might have to if this is the only way to fix it. Hopefully QuarterArcade won't give me too much trouble...
