Title: TimeSink 2, Upright MAME Cabinet
Post by: spjuenger on August 17, 2009, 08:45:20 am
I got into MAME a couple of years ago, but just now decided to build a cabinet.  Like most of you guys I bought Saint's book and went to town making modifications on the fly.  The project took about 2 months to complete.  I'm still making software configuration, but my friends and I had our first drunken arcade night and it preformed flawlessly.

I started with a 7 button layout, but then decided to put an 8th button there for my TeamSpeak Talk button.  I'm going to build the same cabinet for my father's house so we can talk while we both play games.

Control Panel
IPAC2
U360 x 2
Happ 3" Trackball
Happ Pushbuttons with LEDs

Computer
Core 2 Quad
8 gig RAM
Nvidia GTS 250
2 x Hard drives (One for OS and one for Games)
Windows 7 x64
MAME 1.33 x64

LCDs
Dell 24" LCD
Lilliput 7" touchscreen (left over from my truck PC)

I had so much fun building this cabinet that I'm making plans for a jukebox.

Team speak? What games will you play on-line? (I always liked multiplayer stuff, to be honest :-))

Teamspeak is just a voice over IP application.  I don't think MAME has any online games.

Hehe yep those are the best...I still keep in touch with my best friend since grade 4 (37 now!) and there is nothing finer than a night like this.  After a long week at work they are needed!

Grats :)

Very cool - what do you display on the little screen?

Right now I have CPWizard show on the second monitor, though it seems like it was designed to work with 1 monitor.  When I get time I'm going to set up Marquee Magician to show cab and cp images for the mame game.  It will also run the jukebox with the touchscreen.
