I haven't played on a real machine since, oh, about when it came out. :)
Any advice on spinners for playing this game (with Mame)? Weighted, not weighted, etc?
-
I recently read an explanation from URebel that the controls were pots, albeit (interestingly) non-limited ones.
So I guess they have some (physical) resistance and should probably not freely spin at all. Bear in mind I have never played on the machine tho...

I'd say unweighted since a: the distance the paddle travels is relatively small and b: the chances of you needing the paddle against the wall (where it would end up if you let it free spin in one direction) aren't very good
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the game use potentiometers as opposed to optical encoders?
[edit]
Minwah posted while I was typing. Thanks for the confirmation from you and URebel that they are indeed pots. "Non-limeted ones" though, I'm having trouble wrapping my head around that one. Can you point me to that discussion?

Yes, that's what I said above. But most people use spinners because the original used pots which did not have a limited amount of travel. That and I *think* Mame used to only support dial input for this game (and not paddle)...I think it handles both now but I haven't checked.
