Would the best place to first check be my local arcade? And how would I go about doing so?(I mean workers there would most likely know jackall)
Thanks guys
Edit:Please move this to the frequently asked questions section, I had both open and posted in the wrong one. Sorry.

Actually, you're fine in here.
Local arcades barely exist anymore, but if you have one, ask if they have any broken machines or ones that just don't make money that they'd like to get rid of. Check bowling alleys. Find out if there is a local amusement company. They may have cabs they want gone.
Check your local craigslist. Check eBay. Check out Buy/Sale/Trade section for cabs in your area. Check the For Sale message board of www.klov.com

We have one local arcade in my mall, we used to have a stand alone arcade but that closed(We also have this place like chucky cheeses that has some cabs). Who would I ask at my arcade and how would I go about doing so, same for the bowling ally(Would seem kinda odd going up to the change man asking if they had any old cabs)

Just ask for the owner or manager.

I'd say ebay or craigslist is your best bet. I've asked the managers at a bunch of different arcades and they always tell me the machines are on rental from some amusement company so they aren't actually theirs to sell. I guess you could contact the amusement company directly though...

I would suggest maybe giving a part of the country or city of you want you are in there might be someone here who might know of a place or have one not too far off.
I'm in North Fl and know of a place and one that is a sometimes.

i'd go to the arcade and ask for the manager...even if they rent their machines from an amusement place, he should be able to tell you that...then you can call them to see if they have any old cabinets they want to get rid of.
i got a few cabinets over the years from an amusements company. called the guy up, asked if he had any old empty cabinets he'd like to get rid of, and how much he would want for them. i ended up getting 3 different cabinets off of him at different times, each one was $20, and werent' in bad shape.

I just looked in the phone book and called a few amusement companies and found one that said I could come down and look at their empties. Told me that depending on the cab, they'd sell them anywhere from $30 - $150. I wound up getting a cab elsewhere, but it's still good to know that I have a source for any future projects.
Another suggestion:
www.superauctions.com
You can find some real deals if you do things right.

I'm in newfoundland canada. Ironically enough I had someone ask for local pickup on my sega saturn I put on ebay today...and they live a few minutes from me.
Anyways thanks a bunch guys I'll try calling all my amusement comapanies I can find in my phonebook and I'll talk with the manager of my arcade In the mall(I doubt they rent them all, I mean they have this old tetris one in there That I got the hi-score on it was pretty fun..)

These seem to be all the amusement providers in my area( http://www.yellowpages.ca/search/si/1/Amusement%2BDevices/St-John-s%2BNL/ ) I'll call them tomorrow. I guess I'll ask if they sell or rent arcade cabinets and if so do they have any older etc ones I could buy.
