Title: Rowe92 Speaker Shot - what kind of speakers can i use? - Rowe 92 - AMI R-92

Hello,

I acquired a Rowe 92, and one of the speakers is shot. Also, with the one speaker working, it seems real bassy. Is their a way to reduce bass as well?

Anyways, anyone know what kind of speakers I can throw in there? If you have a URL that would be great.

How do you know the speaker is shot? Is there a big hole in it? Frame twisted? Magnet fall off? Paper cone mouse-eaten?

Jukebox speakers are pretty well built and are custom selected by the juke manufacturer. If wiring is good (no wires/connectors disconnected) at the speakers, crossover network, and amplifier and the amplifier is known good, then get the speaker part number from your R-92 jukebox Field Service & Parts manual and call up your local Rowe distributor and order it.

Is this a Rowe R-92 45s, or R-92 CD/45 Combo?    If it is just the 45s, are you interested in adding the CD player?  I was just about to put one up for sale.  Add's in under the 45 mech.  You can select either 45 or CDs (6 CD changer).

I may also have a speaker for that model.  I took two R-92s and made one.  Where are you located?  I'm in Upstate NY.  I may also have a couple other spare parts for that one as well. 

I think there are switches on the AMP itself to adjust balance, bass and treble.  Check those as well.

Hi scrapple,

I would test out that amplifier with a extention speaker to make sure that both channel are working.
Also check out where the speaker cables go to on the output package.

The Bass speakers are across pink and violet (left and right channels) the top range speakers are connected to pink and black for one channel and violet and lack for the other channel.

To get sound you may find that someone has connected the speaker across one side of the output package only.

The correct way would be a black to E1 and the pink & violet to E6 (left & right set of connections) to give the maximum output.

Is there not more than the two speakers in the R-92 units ?

My R-93 has five total in it.
Only the larger two in the bottom produce the bass. The other three take care of the mids and highs.

Just curious more than anything.......

I had an R-92 and I got rid of it,  but, I'm pretty sure there were two bass speakers down low, and two mid range/high up higher.  Maybe there were separate mid/highs, but they are definitely in pairs, and at least 4 speakers.

I have an R-90, and that has two bass, and two mid/high (total 4)

According to both manuals for the R-92 and R-93 four speakers are shown.

Duh.... I said mine was an R-93, when in fact it's an R-83. (AMI Disco 200)

My point being is I would have expected his R-92 to have more than just the two lower speakers, hence why his may sound too "bassy".
