Title: Mala Startup Video Freezing When Used With Instantsheller
Post by: rablack97 on August 03, 2009, 02:01:28 am
I am using instantsheller with Mala as the front-end to hide the windows environment.  The startup video is freezing at the same point on every bootup.  It eventually finishes but it's just not smooth.  Also, if I start Mala after Windows loads up, the video works fine with no hang ups.  Anybody have any ideas as to what is causing this issue when Mala is used a shell? ???

Even though Mala is the shell some windows applications can still auto-start... One of those (or a driver or service) is grabbing CPU from your video playback.  On my cab I had this issue with rotation software.  Disable the sheller then go back to your regular windows desktop and look for any programs that load as icons in the sys tray - get rid of everything you can.

It could be something else too - like if you have networking services running and you have a mapped drive but the actual path isn't available it could be creating a delay in your system while it waits for the timeout fail on not connecting to that path.

Since your using sheller I'm assuming you have microsoft updates and anti-virus software disabled as well.

Post notes on what you have tried and I'm sure other people will respond with things you can check that could be the cause.

Good luck,
Craig

Cyork,

You da man, it was my network connection.  I have 2 two computers networking with mapped drives, I disabled my network connection and it ran smooth on the startup.  I'm just in the software stage of this hobby now, and I spent almost 3 days trying to figure that out.  I'm sure once I get this thing up and running I will just unshare my mapped drives and it should work like a charm w/o me disabling the network connection for the internet.

Thanks Again....
