Title: self boot PS1 disc?
Post by: emerica on July 30, 2009, 09:12:18 am
I am currently planning a minicab for my daughter and son. I wanted to use my old PS1 with a console adapter for the ipac. The machine will only play nes games and I currently use IMB NES. I want to know if anyone knows of a way to build a disc that is bootable without the need of a gameshark disc.

The reason for not using a computer is because I have an IPAC and a PS1 already laying around.

I wasn't looking to run any ps1 games just a nes emulator. I can go computer route and just run FCEU or something. Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like self boot ps1 disc is a no go.

For just NES games, you could get like a Pentium 3 something or other for $20 and run a PC emulator.

I was trying to do this on the cheap side so that I can put a tv in the cabinet as opposed to a computer monitor. I also wanted to keep things simple on the inside so that the kids couldn't pull things apart when they get curious or something, Anyway, I could probably find something at a garage sale that I can use.

I have a dreamcast that I play every now and then but after looking at the price of a DC console adapter for the ipac (99 dollars plus shipping), I will just go the pc route.

Yeah, I used to mod them with zero soldering experience, other than the little bit I learned in school and from watching a friend mod them.

got the $5 chip from crashwg. I never modded a console before so hopefully this will go in without any hiccups. I do have some soldering experience. I have soldered a dc plug jack on my laptop a few times without any problems.
