Title: FREE Cyber Sled Muncie, IL
Post by: jwoods on July 29, 2009, 03:23:37 pm
He said the cabinet is empty, and has no monitors, no guts. just Cabinet and seats, wiring inside, joysticks and coin doors. The red and blue bezels are gone ,and the marquee is also.

The seller said if its not gone by the end of the week its going in the burn pile!

Luckily KLOV is down so I can't look it up and be tempted into driving 6 hours round trip to pick up another empty hulk that'll spend the next 5 years sitting in my garage laughing at me.

:)

Even the voices in my head have admitted that restoring, or even using that thing for anything else, would be impossible with my limited resources and skills.

That being said, if it was just an hour away I'd make room for it.

Last OP I talked to about this cab told me the sticks go bad. New parts don't exist and NOS parts are almost prohibitively expensive. Any stick you see on eBay are going to be worn out.

Still, I did have a chance to pick up a complete water logged cab for $100. Wasn't sure what I wanted to do with the cab so I let it go. Kind of regret it, I could have rebuilt the cab into a modular design and documented the sticks. Oh well. :dunno

I always thought those cabs would be good for a multi-console cabinet, the seats are rather comfortable actually. I built a four console unit in a Virtua Racing twin cabinet and the bench seat suuuucks. That Cyber Sled cab could be set up similar to it, dual 25" TV's, four consoles, can play any of the four on either tv or the same console on both for head to head action so to speak.

Anyways........ just my idea.
