I just got my Betson/Imperial PS/2 trackball and I was wondering....If you roll it really fast (like in Golden Tee) it skips. Is there a way around that? New drivers maybe? or an adjustment i can make? It doesn't really seem to do it in windows but it is hard to tell because it is at the top of the screen before you know it. I have noticed it in Capcom Bowling and Minigolf mostly. Is a Mame issue? Thanks for any help you can give.

Have you adjusted the analog settings in MAME?
For the record, I was never able to get the MAME golden tee games working well with my happs 3 inch.
try out the PC port of it.

I don't know if it's the same as a problem I had with a standard mouse trackball - If I span it quick enough the ball in say Marble Madness would actually start rolling in the opposite direction! It was quite disorientating.
From what I can gather it's due to the same reason why car wheels appear to go backwards on film. The optical sensors within the trackball sense the movement of the spindle, if this moves quick enough the sensor can't keep up and you it gets the image that the spindle is moving the opposite way.
I have a happs trackball now - the problem is still present but it needs one almighty spin to send it backwards.

I was messing around with the analog settings in Mame and it seemed to be that if you lowered the sensitivity to about 20% and raised the key speed it would work better. But I couldn't get it to go fast enough on some games like Minigolf. If I raise the sensitivity to 25-30% it would skip again and go backwards. It did work for Capcom Bowling though. Good luck and thanks for the help.
