So I have an arcade machine I am working on. I'm pretty broke and my machine needs a new monitor. In the mean time untill I can afford one I have taken the plastic casing off a 27" TV and mounted it in the cab. Thats been great for simulting the game off the PC. But now I have some arcade ahrdware too, and want to use it. I see the JRok adapters, but as I have said I am broke, and really want to see this hardware working well and booting mixes before I invest in the monitor or a JRok. The kit I have outputs 15Khz obviously, but also has a 15Khz VGA port. Now here comes the maybe dumb maybe not part.
My friend claims that if I build a breakout cable out of an old VGA cable, splice the 2 syncs together, that I should be able to run the RGB and Sync of that cable into the RGB + Yellow cables that go from the TV chasis to the tube (remove the cables from the chasis of course) and then run the ground onto any ground on the chasis, and since they are both 15.7xxxKhz the video will appear on the TV. Is this correct or am I going to break the TV/My PCB/My face?

anyone gonna bit? even a nibble? yay or nay?

The RGB colored inputs on most USA televisions are not actually RGB; they are YPbPr component video. If you do SoG and hook that up, you'll get video, but it will be very, very green.
The JRok adapter was pretty pricey last I saw. There are others that are cheaper.
As for splicing wires in, you can sometimes do that. Usually the RGB lines to the neckboard are not at standard signal levels, and you'll still have to get sync into the system in some intelligible way.

Well, this TV does not have RGB inputer (component), it's purely 1 composite input (old tv). The wires from the chasis to the neck board are Green, Blue, Red and Yellow. I assume that if I unplug the wires from the chasis that the red, green, and blue wires refer to the RGB inputs and the yellow wire is sync. Thats what I was refering to going into.

Well, I don't know who fed you all the information about hooking up to those.... but short answer is "no".
Those have nothing to do with the direct input of a video signal. They are the vertical and horizontal deflection for the yoke. They are not colors and video.

Just wanted to echo Kev here, absolutely do not try this. Whoever told you that is a nut. You definately do not want to feed video signals onto your tube's yoke......
Seems like your real question should be how can I convert an RGB signal into composite video. In this case I'm afraid I have no idea how or if it can be done but I'm sure someone else will!
