Here is a vid of the new feature I am finishing.
It shows one video window of the selected game, and the other associated with the current layout (on constant loop at the moment)
The replacement video engine (as used in the latest mala beta) allows me to do things such as this

very interesting, keep up the good work

Loadman, Good Work. A question, What background music is playing?
Best regards
-
That looks great !!!!!
Whats the source of that video ? I know I've seen it somewhere before?
Can the video be looped ?

Doh !
I stopped reading once i hit Play on the video :embarassed:

;D

Very cool
Will this new video stuff support masks (ie will the video be able to play "behind" a static image with transparency)?
Multiple videos running will be VERY cool, especially if they can play "behind" other elements. I'd be able to animate the clock background in my layout!
Very nice!

That song in the background is called "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" by Journey. An absolute classic.
**goes to find his cd collection**
:afro:

Thank you very much, smalltownguy

The song is actually embedded into the video by Dave Dries He did a longer version with Stone In Love that was very cool as well.
Link to the movie: http://www.cinemarcade.com/movies.html (http://www.cinemarcade.com/movies.html) The long one is called Arcade '84. I used it for the intro to my front end back when Dragon King was around.
I should see if Hyperspin will allow intro movies.....hmmm

I was supposed to remind you to add an option to play videos once instead of looping them forever.

I added the option after video plays to either loop, freeze or hide.
Loop - Default
Freeze - Plays and stops on last frame
Hide - Use this to reveal layer behind it (like the snap picture)

Hey that's cool. So now emumovies videos can freeze at the title screen when finished playing.
Nice one.

Well at the moment with the freeze option, it freezes at the last frame of the video (whatever that might be)

Does this mean that you can have different gifs for different roms/games?
I'm thinking this could be useful for animated control panel layouts.
or
For my setup up I'd like to have an animated UI control gif.

At the moment you can have a different gif per layout, but combined with auto layout switching it would be cool.
In theory you can also choose to use a animated gif instead of a video in the normal video window that will change depending on the selected game, but would you not want a video rather than a gif?

The gif would be of controls animation that would change per game. The video would still play but then you would have an animated gif showing you what controls are active on the CP (mine light up so it's not a big deal for me).
For me I want to be able to animate my GUI control bar (shown circled in red). Right now it's basic but with animation I can convey to the user to use the joysticks up/down to scroll, left/right jump letter, etc.

...and this is why I have stuck with MALA all these years. It just gets better.
Thanks Loadman. :notworthy:

amazing new feature AND classic "Journey"... it just keeps getting better and better! :applaud:
Not sure how this'll change my build (I'm starting it back up again in a month or two), but I'm sure it'll be helpful!
