Ok. I buy this working Final Fight cab from this guy who also happens to supply my mom's bar with video slot machines, pool tables, jukebox...ect. All it really needs is to be cleaned up and it's ready for use. Now I'm thinking, while it's nice to have at my house to play, why not put it in mom's bar and use it to make some money to supliment my hobby. Only problem is, this guy, although a nice dude, probably isn't going to appreciate me "taking some of his business" especially with a machine that he told me in a round about way NOT to use on his route. These guys can be really territorial around here. I can just see him yanking all his stuff from mom's bar just for spite. Mom says it's up to me. What would you all do?

If you're going to MAME it and try to make money off it, that's a big NO-NO. But if it's just Final Fight, why not? Make some dough, you'll need it :) This isn't a cheap hobby sadly....

It won't make any money anyway. It isn't worth the trouble. If it could still make money then the guy would still be operating it.
There are very few older games that can make any money on location anymore. Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, and Centipede, that is about it.

Because that guy is gonna break his legs... that's why. (presumably) Reminds me the time I tried to undercut scalpers at a concert once -- it was an ugly scene =(
But maybe i've seen one too many episodes of the Sopranos...

No... didn't plan on maming it. I know better than that. Just thought it might help out a little as is. Paigeoliver is probably right tho, won't make much anyways. I think he took it out of service because of that and that it's not all that visually applealing in the state it's in. (nothin a little elbow grease and some touch up paint cant cure) Do you all think I would be better off selling it? (money making wise)

Depends on what you paid for it. A decent 19" Final Fight is usually a $200 item if you list in the local paper. Less at a live auction. Conversion games on ebay bring nearly random prices, so avoid listing it there.
Final Fight is also a decent keeper if you have room for it. I have owned a couple of them. NOS sideart and control panel overlays pop up pretty frequently, so it would be easy to cherry the game out (still wouldn't be worth much, but at least it would look nice).
