Title: Hantarex MTC ID?
Post by: Nipedley on July 14, 2009, 11:03:40 am
Hey guys, this is more of a question to solve my curiosity than anything else although it does have other implications for me.

In my 1989 Mega-Tech came a Hantarex monitor/chassis, it uses MTC 9000 remote adjustment boards, MTC 9000 connectors (video & power) and the IC's are also the same as regular MTC 9000 boards, but the board layout is entirely different & at least half of the capacitors/resistors and some transistors are different to a standard board.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this board is, a variant in design, early or late, prototype even? As I've never seen this board design referenced on the internet personally and am very curious! And those 'further implications' refer to the flyback. Can I stick in a regular MTC 9000 flyback or is that different too?

Differences off the top of my head;
The neckboard is HUGE compared to the standard one, many more transistors etc. on it.
The power & video connectors are next to each other, as opposed to opposite ends of the boards.
The fuses are located on the left with the connectors as opposed to the right side of the board.
Many resistor/capacitor value changes and most component locations are different.

Thanks for any info on this :)

Just so you know this chassis is now working & in my machine, I rebuilt the board with the exception of the flyback for the above reason, I also have a 'standard' MTC 9000 spare chassis which doesnt work but that is what made me realise that this wasnt a normal one!

I think it's a MTC9000A.

Does anyone have a schematic or a service manual for this particular model? I have the same monitor and it's giving me a headache... :badmood:

I still haven't managed to find any solid info on this other than as ac3 said, it could be a MTC9000A. I've found instructions that you have to cut a certain pin on the MTC9000 flyback if it's to be used in an 9000A.

Other than that, the rest remains in obscurity for now. Anyone else have any info for us? :)
