Title: Want to start new juke project

I would like to start a jukebox project.

I see some threads about software which I have not yet looked into but I haven't seen much about design.

Can someone point me in the proper direction for some designs?

I'm not sure if I want a huge free standing unit, wall mount or a small "desktop" unit.

Please let me know any ideas/suggestions/parts to use.

Depends on where your tastes run, but I've always thought it'd be cool to nab a busted old philco or similiar like this

and shoehorn a pc with a small touch screen into it. (or maybe just a screen and use the knobs/replace them with mini joysticks possibly, like these

I'd kinda like to do a juke one day myself, after seeing some of the awesome builds here!

Anyways, thank you for your suggestions, they seem pretty cool, but I'd really like to possibly get an MSI all in one system because it looks simple and very small.

other than that not sure, touch screen seems like the way to go and I won't need external controls(hopefully).

Also, gotta find an okay amp to power everything.  probably just pick up a cheap system and buy 2 decently large speakers to output the sexy sounds of musics.

then click "Examples" link and then "Jukeboxes" to get some ideas.

There are not as many examples are there are arcade cabinets, so I search through the internet and found a style I liked and used some of that design in my jukebox build.

Unfortuneatley 70% of the links for the examples dont work anymore as the project owners have either changed their internet services or have just abandoned their project pages.

Don't know how hard you want to crank it but I picked up a pair of amplified Altec Lansing Computer speakers (2 speakers plus a small sub) and they sound +really+ good, even up loud.

Just mount them behind some speaker material and you've got that part covered!

I run a set of Klipsch 4.1 Promedia THX certified PC speakers on my juke.  Those speakers are freaking amazing for pc speakers.  I hear the 2.1 systems sound just as good and can be found relatively cheap on ebay.  There is a known "flaw" with these speakers in that the DIN connector on the amp/sub is prone to breaking and/or making a bad connection.  There are some guys on ebay selling a do-it-yourself upgrade kit to replace the DIN plug for like $15.  With that fix and maybe some higher quality speaker wire you'll be VERY impressed with the sound.  I used my 4.1 system outside last year and had to keep it turned down pretty low due to some neighborly complaints  ;D
