Title: D3D Issues Vertically...
Post by: FrizzleFried on July 09, 2009, 10:56:25 pm
I am attempting to get a Vertical Cab up and running but I am having issues...

MAME will run all day long in DDRAW mode, but since this particular cab uses a PC monitor, I'd like to run in D3D mode. The problem is that when I change to D3D mode MAME errors out saying the graphic resolution indicated isn't supported (paraphrasing).

I USED to run MALA and everything ran great, but I have since changed to MAMEWAH which required me to rotate my monitor image via a program called PIVOT PRO... MALA has built in rotation control where MAMEWAH does not. When I used MALA D3D worked fine... since changing to MAMEWAH and having to change monitor orientation, I've been getting the error while using D3D.

How can I rectify this issue?

Nevermind... my problem was with PIVOT PRO,  the software I used to change the rotation of my display.  Unfortunately,  irotate and even the catalyst drivers wont rotate this 9700PRO for some reason....

...now to figure out why.

ISSUE SOLVED!   For those of you out there with Radeon 9700/PRO's who can't rotate the screen with the latest catalyst drivers or irotate....

DUMP THOSE DRIVERS and get the Catalyst 6.11 drivers.  Magically,  the catalyst rotate works!  Even iRotate works now!  And what's best is that MAME isn't confused any more and loads in D3D without issue.

W00t!

I am having the exactly the same problem, but with an ArcadeVGA card based on the Radeon HD2400 PCIe chipset. I am having the same problems with Pivot Pro, Mamewah and Mame. I have to use the specific ArcadeVGA drivers, but can I upate the Catalyst control center. What OS are you using as the lastest as the latest verson of the Catalyst drivers for XP is 9.6
