Title: Trying to figure out multisystem setup
Post by: xxkodemanxx on July 09, 2009, 02:41:39 am
Alright so. I have my Mame cap up and running.

using a Neotec Arcade Monitor
and i-pac keyboard encoder.

what I would like to do is add a dreamcast into the mix.

I want to know the best way to have it switch from Mame to Dreamcast with a switch flip..

I know this is possible using something like this...
http://www.trianglecables.com/4waydb9mansw.html

but thats using serial cable..

So tell me if im wrong...

For the controls I need to run my i-pac into this..
http://shopper.cnet.com/input-cables/mouse-adapter-ps2-to/4014-6595_9-2847503.html

then into a switchbox that also has a dreamcast serial adapter plugged into it on another slot position.

then i need a Second Switchbox for changing the system.
that has the vga from the arcade monitor in one slot.
and the dreamcast with a vga adapter in another slot on the switchbox

this sound right?
2 switch boxes..one for the controls
and one for the system?

i know i could just use the dreamcast emulator..
but it doesnt run 100%..maybe like 95%..and I KNOW that difference..haha

thanks guys

I'm adding a Dreamcast into my arcade cabinet as well. What I recommend doing is wiring everything up to DB25 connectors and then using a switchbox like the one you've got pictured to switch between the two.

I recommend looking at this project log here:

I think it basically covers what you're looking to do.
