Is there a way to search for Games that used a 25-27 inch horizontal monitor?
-
not really, most games had kit and dedicated versions; some had medium res some had standard res

Why?

Becasue i want the games to be played on the same hardware they were intended to be played on. I have a 19inch vert and a 19inch horizontal, and a 25 inch horizontal and want to divide wup the games between the three. This goes back to the thinking that Robotron on a 25inch monitor is way too big and not as good as the 19inch, but Xmen or TMNT may be better on a 25inch.

You may have more luck starting out with cutting big swathes in your ROM list.
For example, I think you can pretty much say that every CPS2 and CPS3 game ever made were designed to run on a 25-29" monitor.
Any game made after about 1994 or so would have run on a 25-29"er too I think.

but then theres re-releases, like the MsPac/Galaga reunion cabs that house 25" vertical monitors.....
What about games like the Xmen side scroller that came with 2 25" monitors, one mounted to the left and one mounted face up on the right reflected into a mirror, what about punch out with 2 19" horizontal monitors mounted one over the other......
basically jack summed it up pretty well but I'd say any game made 1992 or after was made for a bigger monitor.

That was a six player machine, figure the odds of setting that one up. ;)

Just because that release came with a 25" doesn't mean it /should/ have. Many people complain about it being /too/ big. Esp with Galaga because it's harder to keep track of the enemies.
I'd say most fighters would be safe to go with a 25", classics 19". Shumps...hard to say. Depends on how far away from the monitor you are.
