Title: Kentucky Fried Movie
Post by: Ummon on July 08, 2009, 05:34:32 am
I don't think I've seen this since......probably the mid-80s on cable. Still kinda funny. Actually, some of it's less funny, some of it's funnier. I swear, some of the scenes are downright soft porn. That 'SCOTT FREE' scene is really good. Talk about irony. Even the rolling credits seem to be a gag, because they are NOT in the order of appearance, as is lined.

Here's a question for ya's: there are a couple scenes where guys kiss. As this was a rather new thing, it was pretty riske'. Still, Brokeback Mountain was pretty intense, twenty years later. What's your all's opinions on that kinda thing in general?

- gay

- actors desparate for money

- just part of the job, and good show for portraying it well

??

They made Brokeback Mountain 20 years ago?

As stupid a post as that was, I will say that my friends and I used to watch the Kentucky Fried Movie nearly every weekend in middle school.

strange coincidence i stumbled upon this on BT and started watching it last night after the same 20+ years away. still funny, some jokes are "old", but it sure brings back the memories. i always remember this movie alongside "amazon women on the moon" which is very similar "

My friends and I used to watch KFM over and over.

The makers put references to KFM in their later films.  Airplane has Rex Cramer as a character.  Landis put "See you next Wednesday" in several movies including the "Thriller" video.

Was it KFM or The Groove Tube that had the skit with a guys nuts and schwan upside down with a face painted on it doing a commercial of some sort?

Both those movies were funnier than hell last time I saw them.  I remember REALLY liking KFM when I was a kid... how often do you get to see full frontal nudity within the first minute or two OTHER than in porn?

That was the Groove Tube. Though there are "edited" versions on video tape, so it depends on the version you find I guess.

In 1991, I worked for a company called Handleman Co. They supplied all the Wal-Marts, K-Marts, Sam Goody's, FYE (Musicland), Ames, Peaches, Music-town, Tape-Worlds ,well you get the point. We duplicated KFM and Groove Tube in 3 versions. The full unedited copy. The -No Nudity- copy. The -No Nudity/No foul language copy- . All VHS in SLP Mode to use less tape!

Wal Mart & K mart were the big stores that wanted the Edited versions. You wouldnt believe the tapes we had comeback to us with post it notes from the return counter person from a store for the return. 90% that came back had either nudity or foul language on the return slip. Wal Mart actually gave the people their money back! :dizzy:

Those where the days when the VHS was mass duplicatd in a room with 8000 VCR's. 5000 in mono and 3000 in ((stereo)). Then we started using Xenon Sprinter Recording machines. Mass duplicate 6 hrs of cartoons in SLP mode in about 32 seconds! We sold millions of copies of the 6hr, royalty free cartoon tapes!

We made 1000's of Team Troma videos. Toxic Avenger! Surf Nazi's Must Die! and the likes. Anything with Linda Blair, we duplicated it!

Long Live the VHS!  :laugh2:

I loved Ronald Gans as the trailer narrator for "Catholic High School Girls in Trouble".

We all loved that skit but it had nothing to do with the narrator.

He made the parts you are referring to much funnier.  Brutal!  Savage!

Catholic School Girls was 'eh'. My favorites are Sex Record (you know, that dude was the guide through hell in Devil in Miss Jones 3 and 4 - "EQUIS.....EEEEQUIIIIIISSS..." HAHN....turns out he's done all kinds of stuff, even an extra on MASH), and the end one with the news crew witnessing the couple.

You might read back over the middle of the second paragraph.

And in '77, no less. You know, these folks also did Airplane!  (Of which I still haven't seen. Kinda missed it when it came out cos I was too young. Then I never happened to see it on cable - though I did see Airplane II. Hmmm.)

...and the capital of Nebraska is Lincoln!

Groove Tube is also a fine film in the same vein but KFM aged a bit better.
