Title: Marvel vs Capcom 2 Monitor Help
Post by: halfbakedj14 on July 06, 2009, 08:17:06 am
I have the large version of the Marvel vs Capcom 2 Arcade machine and am having problems with my monitor.  The first problem is that the sides of the screen are “squeezed” together into the center instead of taking up the whole screen.  It just randomly did this one day, the screen just went from looking to normal to ‘squeezing” itself into the center of the screen.  The top and bottom of the image aren’t squeezed, just the left and right.

The second problem is that the picture is darker then it should be.  I had unplugged a white cord, I am assuming it was the power cord because when I unplugged it the monitor went off then turned back on when I plugged it in again.  When I plugged it in I saw a spark and then the screen went darker.

I really can’t afford to replace the monitor so I am hoping someone will know what the problem is here.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I have no idea what that white plug was, but there should be a pincushion adjustment  or a image width adjustment.

Im not a monitor expert but if you want them to chime in I'd advise taking some pix and posting them.

could be just some dry solder joints or something to do with the b+ voltage as you are describing both brightness and width issues at the same time
inspect the chassis for bad solder joints especially around the flyback transformer

if it is to do with the b+ then you really need to know what you are doing around there as you will need to make checks with a multimeter

or you could always do the shotgun job,a cap kit as that may pick up the problem
