Title: 39" monitor question
Post by: Hogie1418 on July 06, 2009, 04:04:57 am
Hey all, I have an opportunity to pick up a 39 inch monitor that was used in an Gauntlet Legends Showcase Cabinet. Now I wouldn't be using it right away but a showcase cabinet is something that I would love to build eventually. The guy only wants 20 bucks for it but that is not the issue. He says the monitor is "missing its blues". Im not really sure what he means exactly and was wondering how hard this would be to fix. The tube is an RCA with a neotek chasis if anyone was wondering. Thanks!

It could be something as simple as a loose wire, it could be un-fixable.  For $20 I would risk it.

Are you sure it's 39"?  I didn't think any CRT was ever manufactured in that size.  Sure it's not 33"?

It will have either an A89### or A90### picture tube. If a89, then it is 89 cm 2.54 = 35inches viewable picture. id A90, then 35.4 inches viewable (considered to be 36v). The 39" will be a measurement to the outside of the glass on opposite diagonal corners.

might be a board problem, or a signal connection. But sure would not rule out a bad blue gun in the tube, in that case, it's a boat anchor.

Good luck

Rick
