Hey guys! back for some help.
Managed my power on problem and its on and working fine.
EXCEPT
It starts at a nice darkness...
but overtime it gets slightly brighter and more fuzzy.
also there are diagonal scanlines...
any ideas?
i can try to upload a pic tomorrow.
i mean..i can play still..just wondering if there was a simple fix.
used to knobs for the brightness..but it works only a little..and its still a tad fuzzy.
thanks guys!
Monitor is a NeoTec NT-2702

Has the monitor been capped recently? Sounds like bad caps.

Has the monitor been capped recently? Sounds like bad caps.
was worried it could be something like that >_<
I got the cab w/ the monitor from someone.
so no idea when capping has been done.
guess ill have to look into some HOW-TOs
:P
-
There are plenty of how-tos on this site.
-
so while i was asking for help installing a cap-kit here:
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=94430.msg993400#new
i was suggested to try and adjusted the knobs on the flyback..
i did..and the picture got slightly brighter and the scanlines where worse.
so i adjusted the knobs back..
and when i powered on the monitor the screen when like pure white...then died..
now the monitor doesnt seem to power on :(
am i screwed?
-
Starting to sound like a flyback failure.
Which is also why I had mentioned the SCREEN pot, may have been causing some of the brightness fluctuations. (and scanlines)
The flyback seems to be a common failure on the NeoTecs.
See if there is a part number of any kind on the flyback somewhere.

UPDATE:
I plugged in the monitor today..
and it was making a faint ticking noise.
i think this is a good sign..because i searched the problem and someone had the same thing..and it was just a dead fuse.
as i stated before though..i have no idea where the fise is..or what it looks like.
anyone know off hand what type of fuse the neoec-2702 uses? im currently searching around for it.
a friend might be coming by to install a new one
-
There's only one fuse on the chassis that I know of..... and if it blew you wouldn't even be getting the "ticking", it would be totally dead. (AC fuse where the power comes in)
-
ya looks like its the flyback.
just trying to decide if iys worth the money to buy the flyback and hope thats the problem..
or get a new monitor.
thanks for the help though :)
-
So i bought a new flyback from craig.
looks good and installed fine.
but i still have the same problem :(
i had a friend who is good with arcades install it and put it back in..and we are both stumped...
All we are getting is a faint ticking sound still..
like it trying to start but cant..
new flyback.
fuse looks good
and he says it doesnt seem to be a cap problem..
any ideas???
-
Did you test the horizontal output transistor?
-
Im being pointed to as this being the problem.
i dont currently have a multimeter to test..but ill try to grab one tomorrow.
i wont be suprised if that is the problem though..
so 2 questions.
1. where do i test? (multimeter nub)
and more important..
where do i get a hot for the neotect 2702?
i think this might be the right one..but im not sure ;/
