Thought this was interesting......

That is cool.
Now we wait until some tool comes along and says it should be a LCD because it's better.
;D
Thanks for posting the link. :applaud:

I think this looks amazing, and it's quite the gimmick.

His site hasn't been updated since April 2008 and says they'll be available "soon".
They are a little pricey though.
"Anticipated price: $999 including GPS receiver and power adapter "

GPS ??
Say, does something like that last, being on 24/7 ?
-
The GPS is only used to get the correct time and date. Over here there are some land based LF radio beacons that are synced to an atomic clock so all the clocks with receivers for them are running exactly on time. Not sure if that's a world-wide feature so maybe they choose GPS for that.
This is a professional CRT it will run for very long but there is certainly some danger of burning in.
What I really like is the perfect round shapes in the characters. This shows that current processor power can do so much nicer vectors then back in the 80's.
So, who's going to write a vector-mame version for this clock ? ;)

Where is he sourcing the tubes?

Where is he sourcing the tubes?
It's from an oscilloscope. Probably scavenged.
Certainly is a thing of beauty, isn't it?

wow... I would expect that to be cheaper, considering all the work you would have to do... lol

The local electronics dump (i.e. the local electronics recycler) has a nixie-tube clock that I try to buy from him every time I go in there to wade through the crap.
Cheffo: "I see you haven't sold that nixie clock"
Cheapo: "Well, I'll get around to fixing it and then I'll sell it on eBay."
Cheffo: "I'll give you what you have into it so far plus 25%/50%/etc% "
Cheapo: "Thanks, but I want to sell it on eBay."
Repeat for 36 months so far ...
/me looks for the :tommy smiley

Yeah, I'd need a couple of those before I did 2500 solderings too.
