Title: Add a Flexible Keyboard to your MAME cab
Post by: RayB on July 04, 2009, 10:14:10 pm
I just ripped off, paying $12.95 for a flexible keyboard, when this place has em for just over TWO BUCKS! (http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-foldable-flexible-silicone-keyboard-for-pc-mac-K84_W0QQitemZ260299821187QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_Mice_Trackballs?hash=item3c9b141083&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1234%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50)

...but my loss is your gain!

Heh. Just wanted to point out these keyboards as an option for something you can plug into your MAME cab and just leave it in there. Roll it up and tuck into a corner for that rare time when you need to use it for configurating options...

I'll try to review how well they work... soon

Did you get a chance to try it?  How does it feel?

They feel like crap, but if all you have to do is hit TAB and reconfigure some keys, they're nice. You can even staple most of them by the edges if you want to mount them inside the cab and access through coin door.

This is really cool.  Great for people without keyboard drawers.

I've used these before, as we just have a flip-down front access door on most of our cabs, and these flexible type keyboards can be bonded or screwed easily onto the rear of the door  and work fine for debugging.

Ya I bought a blue one.

Its another one of those cool things to do when people come over & crap themselves over the arcade for even just existing.

Then when you pull out a flexible keyboard from Die Hard they cry.

Got one of these flexible keyboards off eBay after seeing this thread.  It's not too shabby.

I removed my previously-installed mini keyboard.  I was never able to get it completely hidden or on slides to get it out of the way as much as I wanted, when it wasn't in use:

So I yoinked out the hard keyboard & pugged in the flexible keyboard & rolled it up & tucked it into the coin bucket.  Plenty of cable length to bring it out onto my panel (just need to avoid closing the coin door on the cable & squishing the cord!).  Works adequately well.  Noticed that it's missing a handful of handy keys (Page Up, Page Down, Number Lock, & a few others).  Oh well, no matter.

I recommend it.  The price can't be beat!

Thanks,
-Jason

"We Ship to Worldwide... except ITALY."

I don't know why, but that made me LOL... is there something about "those Italians" I don't know about?

On topic, those are pretty cool.

Glad I don't live in ... ITALY. I can get one.  ;D

Ill pipe in here.
I sell all kinds of stuff on ebay and of all the countries all over the world I have shipped stuff too the Italian postal service is the worst. Even an EXPRESS post package took 3 months to get to my customer. It wasn't even opened or inspected by customs. Just sitting on a shelf somewhere. Several times I have had similar experiences. Not to mention the actual laws as to what you can import in Italy is insane. For example you can only import toys if they are made of wood etc. There was a whole website about how bad they are but I can't find it off hand. I also no longer will ship high value items to Italy. Cheap stuff I risk, worse case I am out $5.
