Title: U360 Analog Control Settings
Post by: Hogie1418 on June 28, 2009, 10:38:48 pm
Just got my U360s a few weeks ago and everything was going pretty smooth. Today I went to play paperboy and roadblasters but when I moved my stick in any way it shoots the guy or car straight to the left or right... no middle. Anytime I move the stick it acts as if I moved the stick in the complete opposite direction. What happened or what got changed. My cousin was over yesterday messing around with the games. Did he mark a button that isnt supposed to be marked? Does it have to do with the analog controls? Thanks this is driving me crazy.

yes it does have to do with those games being analog

we need a little more info how are the maps sent to the U360? Mame or a plug-in like ledBinky?

For paperboy (probably similar for roadblaster) you have to go into the analog settings and turn the sensitivity all the way down to 1 and inverse the axis (both those games were meant to play with special controls)

the maps are being sent to mame. Never really messed with the maps before. Where do I go to change the sensetivity? Is it on the Ultimarc disc? Sorry for not knowing much  ???

it's in Mame

after the game is running hit the tab key to get to the Mame config menus, for analog games you need to set those up on a game by game basis, basically you mess with the settings till it feels right (paperboy will never fell 100% cause you don't have the handlebar controller like the arcade had)

maps sent to Mame how?

I think probably Mame is mapping for you which is fine

ok so I went in and changed a few things, paper boy is working quite well now but Roadblaster is still buggy. whenever I start the car just goes straight right and then I have to adjust from there. This is weird because before this I didnt have to do any of this to make these games work and they were both playing perfectly. The only thing that I can think happened is I did go and install the ultimarc map utility for the u360. Could doing anything with this have changed things?

Can you tell me what changes you made in MAME to get Paperboy working to your liking?  I have it on my cabinet with U360's but haven't had a chance to play with it.

I would also like your Roadblaster settings although I haven't put that one on my cabinet yet.

Thanks

here ya go, I honestly dont know what these settings even do exactly but I just messed with them all and it felt good. Some of the things I changed may not have even affected the game but oh well.

Paperboy
AD Stick X Digital Speed                 3
AD Stick X Autocenter Speed          1
AD Stick X Reverse                         OFF
AD Stick X Sensitivity                     10
AD Stick Y Digital Speed                  6
AD Stick Y Autocenter Speed           7
AD Stick Y Reverse                         OFF
AD Stick Y Sensitivity                     11

Road Blasters (Doesnt feel great but it works)
Dial Digital Speed                5
Dial Reverse                       ON
Dial Sensitivity                    1

Hope that helps

one more thing, in the Mame folder there is a Mame.ini file in there is the Joystick sensitivity and deadzone
I changed my sensitivity to 100 and the deadzone to 0
be careful with this as it applies to all games, but the U360 maps have there own deadzone so it seems to work fine for me and that way you get 100% of the analog range from the stick

I'm pretty sure the digital sensitivity doesn't do anything on an analog stick

also hogie1418 you may want to modify the Subject line to add something about analog settings, might hep a few more people out
