I have a 360 and was playing RE5 and had it cranked up the other day and drove the wife nuts for a few hours.
I was wondering if regular name brand headphones can be used instead of the official one's or the 3rd party video game company type....if possible I want a name brand that sounds good and goes loud.
I Dont go live and dont need the mic part at all and also read somewhere that the voice's of players and such come through the headphones and not the actual game sounds becuase the game sound comes through the tv and not the actual headphones becuase there to hear the voice's of other live players only.... is that even correct or is it just internet myth again?
I did not get mine new and dont have a manual for the console or controller and was thinking someone here may know if the regular name brand headphones's can be used still and still work while being plugged into the controller and hear the actual game sounds and not other live players only type thing.
I know I can go through the regular red and white on the AV cable but was wondering about through the controller jack itself.
:dizzy:

i dont think that the audio jack on the 360 controller will work for what you want to do. you would need to tap into the audio either at the red/white jacks on the 360 av cable, or from an audio output/headphone output on your TV or receiver. most stereo/surround receivers have headphone jacks right on the front of them. yeah, you'd need a long cord, or wireless headphones, but i think that is probably your only option.

darn I thought wireless controllers with headphones connected right to them for the games actual sound would be nifty but I guess its back to the ol 70's-80's technology again lol :dunno

I snagged these (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16874502003&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Xbox+360+-+Accessories-_-Turtle+Beach/Voyetra-_-74502003) when they were majorly on sale.
Have to say, they sound pretty freaking phenominal.

I second those.
They are a bit pricey, but they are excellent. When I don't game with headphones I have surround sound, and to not lose that when I do play with headphones is just plain awesome. Also, since they are wireless, there is no concern sitting 10' back with my 4 kids running around snagging the cord.

I have the turtle beach ones, but wired. Very nice.
