So here is the problem, I got a bunch of roms by they are all zipped, it could probably take me days to unzip each one individually, is there a way to unzip all at once?
-
If you don't have to worry about long file names, you could use the old command line version of pkzip...
pkunzip *.zip destination
If you have long file names or all of the zip files are in different folders, this won't work.
-
they are all in the same folder, just each rom is zipped individually
-
You can download 7zip, it comes with a command line tool that should handle everything.

pkunzip *.zip destination
Man, that brings back some memories

Yea, I still use a lot of old school command line stuff.

ditto........way better application than winzip and winzip cost frieckin' money.
-
if you have WINZIP installed, just select all your ZIP FILES and then RIGHT CLICK/DRAG over a bit to the side where it is a empty spot, then click UNZIP HERE.

That's a GOOD TIP, man. The last time I had to extract hundreds of files, I couldn't figure out how to do it in Winzip so I went out to look for the old pkzip. Turns out it was called command line pkzip and they were charging for the full version. Go figure.

Wow, PKZip is still around? I used to use it back in my college days. I would use a trimmed down version of PKZip on a floppy to borrow a bunch of programs from the school server, compress them onto a bunch of floppies I had with me and then do my homework at home. This was before we were allowed to remotely connect to the mainframe from off campus.

IZarc lets you batch unzip piles of files direct from explorer.

I used to use Iceows, but it had some stability issues. Never has a problem with IZarc and it's free.

Most emulators allow ZIPped archives. What are you using that doesn't?
-
That's what I was thinking while reading reply after reply. You don't need or want to unzip those ROMs. Load them into the emulator zipped and they run perfectly. Unzipping them will just take up a bunch of unnecessary space.
-
I hadn't tried them but I was assuming you had to unzip them.
The roms are:
Neo Geo
NES
N64
Sega CD
thos are the ones that are zipped, so all those should also load zipped?
-
yup, leave em zipped. MAME "unzips" to memory.
