Title: Interesting pictures for today 06/24/09
Post by: Daviea on June 24, 2009, 01:12:07 pm
Ok, here's what I have for you today.

The before:
FOOD FIGHT control shafts!  Fresh off the machine....no finish applied  Doesn't look like much here unless you know what it is...

and the after:
FOOD FIGHT CONTROL SHAFTS!  Straight back from chroming.  This is from the same place that chromes up HARLEY DAVIDSON parts, btw. :-) I bet NOBODY has ever seen one of these that looks THIS nice!  Atari didn't even chrome theirs to this level!  They used a "protective chrome".... I am using a "decorative chrome" which has the same effect as protective, but much better AND it looks beautiful!

Here are more pics of the Food Fight shaft, knob and assembled handle:

Also......
Star Wars yoke spacer bearings!!  WHO on earth was it that was asking me about this?  I decided to run off another 600pcs to keep handy.  I'll probably start including this in the rebuild kit. :-)

Both of the above are available, btw. :-)

Looks nice!

Neverending Project was looking for the spacers (he has a SW thread in the restoration forum).

Looks ace :)

I probably should know but I've read conflicting info - is the Food Fight stick a hall effect or does it use pots?

Minwah,

The food fight joystick is an analog "gimbal" joystick.  It has two 5K pots.

I can assure you with 100% certainty that this is the correct information.  I've been working on this project far too long not to know. :-)

P.S.  I, Robot, Roadrunner and Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters are the only games that I am aware of which use the Hall Effect joystick.  The Hall Effect joystick is completely different than the Food Fight joystick, of course.  That said, the Hall Effect joystick does share some common components with the 720 stick, logo stick and the assault stick..  Fun!
