Title: My Control Layout V1
Post by: Fitznab on June 22, 2009, 10:29:19 pm
Hello all,

This is my first draft of my button layout.  I want the 6 Capcom buttons, but also the MK3 thumb run button.  I used a little bit of an angle for what I think would be a more ergonomic feel.  Any thoughts or comments about layout or spacing?

Also, what size diameter whole is need for a joystick?

Diameter depends I guess on how much throw needed.   I've seen 1-1/4" and 1-1/8".  I used the latter and it's fine.

I personally don't like ergonomic buttons but it's a matter of preference really and I think it's solid.  Now show us the rest.  ;)

Before I actually start drilling I'm going to attach the control to some cardboard and play to see what works.

Now show us the rest.  ;)

That the next step.  Need to figure out how much room I need for 4 players.  I'm thinking a depth of about 16" for buttons and wrist space, total length about 36-40" with the sides angled to give players more room.  I may try and find a Simpsons cabinet around town and start measuring.
