Title: I have a 10 year old SD TV with Component Inputs
Post by: Gavica on June 22, 2009, 02:36:21 pm: I have a Sony 32" close to 10 years old, it has component in the back funnily enough (I thought only HD had it).

What would be the best way to hook up the PC to it? to get the best picture quality? My video Card has dual DVI outputs.

Would this be my best bet??

Post by: TOK on June 22, 2009, 03:20:45 pm: Thats what I'm using. Works good, though you will probabbly need to either tweak the TV from its service menu (not the regular picture controls) or use a custom resolution to make games fit on the screen. I'm using a custom res of 640x432 on a SD Toshiba.

What happens if I leave at the defaul TV resolution? Horizantal games wont fit the whole screen?

How do I take a Screenshot of a game? I was trying to use Print Screen, but when I paste it, it just pastes a black picture.

Do you want to take screenshots from within MAME? Its F12

Edit... When you use F12, the pics go into the /snap folder

Post by: Ummon on June 22, 2009, 06:54:01 pm: Notice that adapter is for ATI cards. From what I recall, no one here has gotten it to work with Nvidia. But, for the price, it might be worth trying. Also, if you have a TV out cable with component ends on it, you might try that right now. If it don't look good, make sure to go into the forceware and see what TV picture features it has.

Post by: Sir Headless VII on June 23, 2009, 01:11:40 am: Yeah I was going to say it says specifically that it only works on ATI cards and you have an Nvidia card. I don't have any solutions but I wouldn't count on that one too heavily.

Get the 7 pin dongle or change out your video card to an ATI.

Post by: bkenobi on June 24, 2009, 04:21:08 pm: I bought a VGA -> Component box years ago that could display on my Sony HDTV. Since it's way outdated at this point, I bet they are available really cheap on ebay or whatever. Mine was an RCA brand, but this one is basically the same thing.

NOTE: I don't know anything about that company or product, it was just the first one that popped up in google. I searched for "rca vga component converter", but you should be able to find a lot of stuff by removing the the brand from that.
