Title: MameMarquees.com Reputable?
Post by: moonchilddave on June 16, 2009, 12:21:22 pm
I've been looking at the designs on MameMarquees.com (http://www.MameMarquees.com) and have sent them 2 e-mails asking a question about specific artwork design and have yet to receive a response from them.  I have checked my junk mail folder as well as my mail logs, and nothing.  It's been 10 days since my last e-mail to info@mamemarquees.com. My email:

Quote
I am looking at purchasing a few things from your company:

Arcade Classics BLUE Marquee (http://www.mamemarquees.com/arcade-classics-blue-marquee-from-p-1211.html)
- Height x Width 6" x 22 3/8"
- Marquee length/size up to 23.00"
- Plexiglas (USA/Canada ONLY) YES cut to marquee size (up to 12" tall)
- Version Premium

Could you be a little more specific about the differences between the Premium and Ultimate marquee?  Which would closer resemble an original marquee from say a Pac-Man or Galaga?

Also, the size I've noted above is the actual size of the marquee I am looking for, however, the actual visible area of the marquee is only 5" in height (there is 1/2" on top and bottom that is covered up - but nothing covers it on the sides).  Is it possible to print the marquee so that none of the actual design is covered up?  How would I note that when ordering?

Also, in looking at the contact section of their website it appears they can only be contacted via e-mail (no phone).  Now I'm very wary of purchasing from this company as they seem to be totally unresponsive.  What are others experiences if any with this company?  Could someone else recommend someone else who could do the same work for the same price or cheaper?  I was also looking to have a modified version of one of the CP overlays done.

MameMarquees is absolutely great and reputable. Scott does this on his spare time, but the quality of his work is second to none. He took the weekend off and is most likely still catching up with orders.

He will probably reply to this thread soon, if not try him at scott@mamemarquees.com

I had the same problem getting a reply from them, so at the recommendation of another member on the forums, I went with http://www.emdkay.net/.
I sent my image last week and since we live 10 minutes from each other, he actually offered to personally deliver it to me today since he will be in the area.
I'll post up a review when I get it!

Scott is the man.  Period.  He does great work.  However, it's possible that the e-mails on HIS end is getting filtered out as spam.  Try e-mailing him from a different e-mail account.

And for the record, Ultimate finish is the way to go.  It's more durable and looks nice.  Paired with Plexi you can't go wrong.

Great to know... He looked like the main place doing this stuff, and it looks really nice... I had no idea it was a one man operation, but from the reviews, it sounds like it's worth a little wait!

I probably missed your email... take a look in my FAQ, it goes into detail about the differences between the premium and ultimate.  Basically the premium is printed a a backlit paper similar to emdkay, and the ultimate is printed on a true backlit film like a translite/oem marquee.

I typically leave .1/2"-3/4" on the top and bottom of the marquee free of graphics for the retainer.  There is a comment section when ordering, you can just give me the total height and viewable height and I can take it from there.

Hi Scott, if you read this can you check to see if you received my email?  I've read in previous posts you were having problems with emails going to your junk folder.  My subject used was "Artwork question(s)" and I sent it from my work email address.  Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Scott, I received your email last wednesday and thanks for your reply.  I have sent you 2 emails since than an almost a week now without a reply.  I would like to place an order and in your email you gave me a custom quote and don't know how to add it via shopping cart on your site.  Can you please check your email and get back to me, I used this as the subject:

"FW: Artwork question(s) [2nd time sending]"

Thanks.
